If you're outraged (or at least concerned) by what John Perry Barlow had to
say about International A.N.S.W.E.R. - one of the groups organizing this
protest - in the last Think List posting, I've done a little background
checking and have found the original Salon article that John Perry probably
got his information from, as well as a rebuttal from a source I don't know
but seems reasonable. In the true spirit of the Think mailing list (that
likes to present alternatives and let you decide) please read on:

Salon article by Michelle Goldberg with Todd Gitlin:

(requires subscription - ugh!)

Rebuttal (or at least another point of view) by Ron Jacobs:

But no matter what you think, *do* attend the protest! Peace protests are
always safe, despite what the Man/Media may try to suggest. So pack a picnic
lunch, bring the kids, and have some fun while you help the world. As a
recent father, I can only begin to imagine what it must be like to think that
my son would be asked to go fight in this war. Don't let it happen to any
one, young, old, American or Iraqi! Now is the time to act.
